Technical Product Owner, AI Delivery

We are looking for a highly skilled Technical Product Owner (AI/ML) to join the team of our exceptional client. This role focuses on owning the delivery of AI and machine learning solutions within a defined product cluster, serving as the critical link between product strategy and technical execution. This position requires experience leading AI/ML product delivery, managing cross-functional data science and machine learning engineering teams, and driving the successful productionization of machine learning models.

What will your day look like? As a Technical Product Owner, you will:

• Own and maintain a prioritized AI Layer backlog for an assigned product cluster, ensuring Data Science (DS) and Machine Learning Engineering (MLE) work is clearly represented and sequenced.
• Translate product priorities into actionable AI/ML workstreams with technically detailed acceptance criteria.
• Define acceptance criteria for DS work, including model performance thresholds, evaluation methodologies, holdout set specifications, and model documentation requirements.
• Establish acceptance criteria for MLE work, including serving latency objectives, monitoring requirements, and rollback procedures.
• Lead the DS-to-MLE Handoff Review process, ensuring model readiness criteria are met before operationalization work begins.
• Partner closely with technical leads to validate feasibility, identify risks, and confirm story scope and sizing during backlog refinement.
• Make sprint-level prioritization and trade-off decisions regarding scope, quality thresholds, and experiment continuation.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Proactively identify and escalate external dependencies and blockers.
• Protect the team from unplanned work and excessive context switching by maintaining strong backlog discipline and stakeholder alignment.
• Drive continuous improvement through AI-enabled workflows, automation, and process optimization.
• Automate delivery management activities such as reporting, dependency tracking, backlog refinement, and handoff validation where appropriate.
• Measure and communicate efficiency gains resulting from AI-driven delivery practices.

You will be a good fit for the Technical Product Owner role if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or technical delivery lead supporting AI/ML or data science initiatives
• Hands-on experience working with cross-functional teams of data scientists, ML engineers, and data engineers in production environments
• Ability to interpret model evaluation results, experiment findings, and ML pipeline outputs to support informed decision-making
• Demonstrated skill in writing detailed, technically specific acceptance criteria for both model development and productionization efforts
• Experience distinguishing and sequencing research-driven experimentation work from engineering and operational delivery work
• Strong understanding of DS-to-MLE productionization processes, including handoff requirements and associated risks
• Excellent prioritization, decision-making, and trade-off management skills in technically complex environments
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting aggressive timelines and delivery goals
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain AI/ML concepts, trade-offs, and risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience delivering machine learning solutions throughout the full lifecycle, from problem definition through production monitoring

Nice-to-Haves:

• Advanced degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline
• Background in data science, machine learning, or analytics-focused roles
• Familiarity with ML experiment tracking, model lifecycle management, and governance tools
• Experience supporting real-time inference products and latency-sensitive machine learning applications
• Prior ownership of ML platforms, model serving infrastructure, or AI enablement initiatives
• Experience with Databricks or comparable cloud-based machine learning platforms
• Experience implementing AI-powered process automation and workflow optimization solutions
